I spend lots of time staring at monitors and mentally dissecting problems — what’s the best color palette, how can design improve that usability, what’s the best layout for mobile. Luckily, I love what I do but a gal still needs a break after a long winter.

My escape? Chartering a 3-hour sail around Lake Superior’s Apostle Islands. We head out from Bayfield, with a mismatch of 6 tourists and travelers onboard. I always meet the coolest people. Then the afternoon is spent on a rented moped, with the open road ahead, the lupines in full bloom if it is spring. The perfect vacation trifecta.

I stay at the Grey Oak Guest House in Bayfield, Wisconsin, an 1888 Victorian B+B in Bayfield, Wisconsin. They are one of my clients, and a heavenly retreat.

I highly recommend it — the cobwebs are gone and I am back at work with a clear head — Much adieu, K.
